Areas of Practice

counselling

Rowenna practices a form of counselling and psychotherapy that:

·      Acknowledges that it is unlikely that anyone of us will avoid an experience of some difficulty, isolation, illness, loss or meaninglessness as part of our life.

·      Offers a relational therapy that provides an attuned presence, empathy and support at these difficult times and in the unfolding process of your personal exploration, healing and growth.

·      Engages in a collaborative process of inquiry and exploration that includes taking into account the full context of your life – social and cultural background, environment, circumstances, relationships, present resources and capacity.

·      Helps you develop self-understanding that comes from present centred awareness of your experience and your relationship with others.

·      Allows you to develop a capacity to bring about changes in yourself and your life through understanding and awareness.

·      Explores the way your past experience and your hopes for the future may influence or inform your present experience.

·      Encourages moving from limiting patterns of responding and relating to a capacity to respond to your life circumstances creatively and with a sense of conscious choice.

Nutritional Medicine

Among other factors (such as appropriate assessment, screening and testing), you may need dietary guidelines and/or nutritional supplementation to:

·      Eliminate or reduce foods contributing to inflammatory factors affecting the brain, neurotoxicity, hormonal imbalances and problems producing neurotransmitters (e.g. serotonin).

·      Address any nutritional deficiencies with therapeutic doses of minerals and vitamins that support the nervous system or stress adaptation.

·      Provide key nutrients to support neurotransmitter synthesis, address mood imbalances and the effects of acute and longer-term mental and emotional stress and trauma.

·      Support blood sugar regulation to prevent unstable energy, inflammatory processes and to reduce anxiety and other nervous system conditions.

·      Address dietary intake and absorption of key nutrients and improve gut function for optimal neurotransmitter production.

·      Increase energy production for improved mental and emotional resilience or coping ability and to support nervous system and stress response and adaptation.

·      Balance hormone production and sensitivity in the case of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoria (PMDD), Post Natal Depression (PND) and Menopausal Depression and Anxiety.

Mood is a language. In this realm of affects,
sadness, anguish and fear “are the ultimate reactions to our traumas, they are our basic homeostatic recourses”.
